About
Born in 1961, I was one of the last of the baby boomers to come in this world. John F. Kennedy was President. Families were strong and proud. Most women did not work. Their husbands would go to work while they would stay home with the children and take care of the house. Life was good.
Growing up in a small rural glass town where eighty percent of the work force was blue collar working in the glass factories, and the other twenty percent had something to do with the glass factory, my memories of my childhood are very good. I never realized that we were considered lower income. I had everything I could have needed. My mother and father gave me shelter, food on the table every night, and at Christmas, Santa would bring necessary items such as pajamas, underwear, and even some toys. I had all the love in the world and was surrounded by happiness.
It was not until my late teens that I realized how little monetarily I had growing up. As children, we would get on our bikes and search the neighborhood for a pick up baseball or football game. Sports were our favorite pastime, but we also enjoyed tag, hide n seek, and the usual games children played. Although money was not something we had much of, I always had an interest in it, and my ability to understand math would take me to dream of someday being a millionaire.
My dreams came true by the time I reached the age of 43. Now that I am older and a lot wiser, being a millionaire, although financially nice, it does not have the meaning that it did when I was younger. Millionaires are not that uncommon, and with recent double-digit gains in the stock market and real estate, there are many millionaires who were just common people like myself.
I’ve always watched how I spent and how I invested. I will share my journey and experiences as to how I reached my goal. I had some very good times, and some not so good times, but through the curve, with education concentration on my goals, and some luck, I’ve reached a point where I feel comfortable about where I am financially.
You too can reach this goal if you have the interest in doing so.
